About
Steve is a visual artist located in Richmond Virginia. From a very early age he know his path forward would be in the arts. At five years old his older sister would impress her friends by asking him to draw. At eight he won his first art competition – second place, but he wasn’t discouraged. Steve studied and received a degree in environmental design and spent the greater part of his career as an exhibition designer and creative director in Washington DC. Since 2015, his creative work focuses on abstract acrylic painting, watercolors, cold wax medium, monotype printing and photography. Steve is a member of Artspace Gallery in Richmond. My work is exhibited primarily in the Richmond area and select venues beyond.

Artist Statement
I’m drawn to Abstraction because it's a very personal visual expression able to connect in a manner individual to each viewer. In beginning a new piece, sometimes my intent is clearly defined before I begin, other times I begin blindly and allow my intuition to lead me along an uncharted path. My inspiration comes from observation of details rather than the big picture. These might include textures on a wall or floor surface, glazes on pottery, patterns on rocks or peeling paint on the walls of an old building. I find it difficult to title my work because I prefer not to influence the viewer’s interpretation of the work.
